Scientists in Vermont and New York are asking some of the region's maple producers to let them know if they are concerned that climate change could affect their operations.

The study is designed to help researchers better understand producers' views and concerns over climate change and its potential implications for their business, family, community and the maple industry.

A questionnaire was sent to sugarmakers in Vermont's northernmost counties and New York's Adirondack Park region.

Scientists at the University of Vermont and the State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry developed the survey with the assistance of maple producers in the two states.

Producers are asked to complete and return the survey by Dec. 5. Results will be released next year.
